Hangman is one of the oldest word games around. You get blank letter spaces, a limited number of wrong guesses, and a stick figure that gets closer to being drawn with every mistake. Guess the word before the drawing is complete.

How to Play
- Step 1: Pick a difficulty. Easy words are short and common. Hard words are longer and less familiar.
- Step 2: Click letters on the keyboard or use your physical keyboard to guess.
- Step 3: Correct letters fill in the blank spaces. Wrong letters build the hangman drawing.
- Step 4: Guess the word before the drawing is complete. You get 6 wrong guesses.
Tip: Start with common vowels like E, A, and O. Then try common consonants like T, N, S, and R. This gives you the best chance of revealing letters early.
Difficulty Levels
This version has three tiers:
Easy
Short, common words. Most are 4 to 5 letters. Great for kids or a quick warmup round.
Medium
6 to 7 letter words that most people know but still require some thought.
Hard
Longer words, trickier spellings, and less common vocabulary. A real challenge.
Hints
Every word has a clue. Click Hint once to see it, or keep clicking to reveal letters one at a time.
Stats and Streaks
Your win count, loss count, and current streak are saved in localStorage. The streak resets when you lose, but your total wins and losses stay so you can track long term improvement.
If you want a clean slate, clear your browser data for this site and the stats will reset to zero.

How many wrong guesses do I get?
Six. That is one for the head, body, two arms, and two legs.
Can I use my physical keyboard?
Yes. Press any letter key on your keyboard to guess. The on screen keyboard is optional.
How many words are in the word bank?
Over 200 words across all three difficulties. Each game picks a random word you have not necessarily seen yet.
Do hints affect my score?
No. Using hints does not change your win or loss record. They are there to help if you get stuck.
Can I change difficulty mid game?
Yes, but it starts a new game with a new word. Your current progress is lost.
Is Hangman good for learning words?
It helps with spelling and vocabulary, especially for younger players. The hint system gives context clues that reinforce word meaning.
